Brake Rotor/Disc: Service and Repair

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove front wheels.

3.

Remove brake cylinder from steering knuckle, then using suitable wire hang and position aside.

Remove brake rotor.

5.

Using suitable dial indicator, measure backlash near center of axle hub in bearing shaft direction, maximum backlash is .0020 inch (.05 mm). If
backlash is greater than indicated, replace bearing.

6.

Install brake rotor and cylinder.

7.

Remove cotter pin and lock cap, then with brakes applied, remove nut and washer, then remove brake cylinder and rotor, Fig. 4.

8.

Loosen lower shock attaching bolts, but do not remove.

9.

Remove tie rod end cotter pin and nut, then using tool No. 09628-62011 or equivalent, disconnect tie rod end from steering knuckle.

10.

Remove lower ball joint to lower arm attaching nuts and bolt, then disconnect joint from arm.

11.

Remove lower shock absorber attaching nuts and bolts, then remove steering knuckle with axle hub. Do not damage driveshaft oil seal.
