Cold Start Injector: Testing and Inspection

RESISTANCE CHECK

1. Disconnect the Cold Start Injector connector.

2. Using an ohmmeter, check the resistance of the injector.

Resistance:

3 - 5 Ohms

3. If resistance is not as specified, replace the Cold Start Injector.

INJECTION CHECK

1. Remove the Cold Start Injector. For the proper procedure, refer to COMPONENT REPLACEMENT AND REPAIR PROCEDURES.
2. Using special service tools (SST), connect Cold Start Injector to the fuel delivery pipe with new gaskets and union bolt.

3. Connect SST jumper wire connector and place a container under the Cold Start Injector to catch the expelled fuel.
4. Reconnect the negative battery cable, if removed and turn the ignition switch ON.
5. Using a service wire, short terminals +B and FP of the fuel pump check connector.  This will cause the fuel pump to operate and pressurize the

system.

6. Connect the test probes to the battery and check the fuel spray pattern of the Cold Start Injector.
