Vacuum Brake Booster: Service and Repair

1.

Disconnect battery ground cable.

2.

Refer to "Master Cylinder, Replace" procedure and remove master cylinder.

3.

Disconnect vacuum hose from power brake unit.

4.

Remove clip and clevis pin from brake pedal.

5.

Remove mounting nuts and power brake unit.

6.

Set service tool 09737-00010 or equivalent, on master cylinder and lower pin until tip slightly touches piston.

7.

Turn service tool upside down and position on power brake unit.

8.

Check that there is no clearance between power brake unit pushrod and pin head of tool.

9.

Adjust power brake unit pushrod length until pushrod lightly touches pin head.

10.

Install power brake unit to pedal bracket.

11.

Insert clevis pin into clevis and brake pedal, then insert clip in clevis pin.

12.

Install brake pedal return spring.

13.

Connect vacuum hose to booster.

14.

Install master cylinder.

15.

Fill reservoir with brake fluid and bleed system.
