Thermostat: Service and Repair

REMOVAL:

1.

Drain engine coolant.

2.

Disconnect radiator hose from water inlet.

3.

Remove water inlet nuts.

4.

Remove water inlet, thermostat, and gasket from the water inlet housing.

INSTALLATION:

1.

Install new gasket to the thermostat and position the thermostat with the "jiggle valve" to the upper left as illustrated.

Install the water outlet and tighten nuts to 9 ft.lbs (12 Nm).

3.

Reconnect the radiator outlet hose to the water inlet.

4.

Refill with coolant.

5.

Start the engine and check for leaks.
