Throttle Body: Testing and Inspection
4Y-EC Engine
1.
Operate throttle linkage through full range, ensuring that throttle does not bind or stick.
2.
Start engine and allow to idle, then using finger, check for vacuum at ports A, E, R and P of throttle body.
3.
Increase engine speed and again check for vacuum at ports A, E, R and P of throttle body.
4.
Vacuum should be present at port A at all times.
5.
No vacuum should be present at ports E, R and P during idle and vacuum should be present at ports E and P at any speed except idle. No vacuum
should be present at port R at any speed except idle.
6.
If throttle body does not perform as outlined, remove throttle body and repair or replace as necessary.
