Governor: Service and Repair

    On A43DE type transmissions, the governor is replaced with an electronic rotor sensor.

2WD Van

1.

Raise and support vehicle and remove driveshaft.

2.

Support weight of transmission with a suitable jack.

3.

Disconnect speedometer cable and remove cable drive gear assembly.

4.

Support fuel tank and remove 2 tank mounting bolts and the transmission mount through bolt.

5.

Remove extension housing bolts, extension housing and seal.

6.

Remove and replace governor from output shaft as outlined for passenger cars.

7.

Reverse procedure to complete installation.

4WD Van

1.

Raise and support vehicle.

2.

Remove transfer case and transfer case adapter.

3.

Remove governor retaining clip from output shaft.

4.

Unstake lock plate, then remove bolt, lock plate and governor from output shaft.

5.

Reverse procedure to install.
