Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair
Installation
AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE CARRIER (for AWD): INSTALLATION
HINT
*
Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
*
The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
NOTICE:
*
Be careful not to damage the outboard joint boot.
*
Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor.
*
Keep the speed sensor rotor free of foreign matter.
(b) Install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque : 290 Nm (2957 kgf-cm, 214 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:
*
Be careful not to damage the outboard joint boot.
*
Be careful not to damage the speed sensor rotor.
*
Keep the speed sensor rotor free of foreign matter.
*
Do not rotate the drive shaft with the rear axle hub and bearing assembly removed.
*
When installing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating.
HINT
Insert the bolts from the rear side.
(c) Fully tighten the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly and the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque : 112 Nm (1141 kgf-cm, 82 ft-lbf)
NOTICE:
Since stopper nuts are used, tighten the bolts.
