Fuel Injector: Service and Repair
Removal
1AR-FE FUEL: FUEL INJECTOR: REMOVAL
REMOVAL
1. DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE
(a) Discharge fuel system pressure See: Service Precautions/Fuel System.
2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
NOTICE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected See: Testing and
Inspection/Repair Instruction - Initialization.
3. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper Motor/Service and Repair/Front Wiper
Motor/Removal.
4. REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL See: Steering and Suspension/Suspension/Suspension Strut / Shock Absorber/Service and Repair/Front
Shock Absorber/Removal
5. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Engine Assembly/Removal
6. REMOVE NO. 1 VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY See: Emission Control Systems/Evaporative Emissions System/Canister Purge
Control Valve/Service and Repair/Removal
7. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY See: Throttle Body/Service and Repair/Removal
8. DISCONNECT FUEL TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the No. 1 fuel pipe clamp.
(b) Pinch the tube connector, and then pull the tube connector off of the pipe.
NOTICE:
-
Check for foreign matter in the fuel tube around the fuel tube connector. Clean it if necessary. Foreign matter can affect the ability of the
O-rings to seal the connector and fuel pipe.

Do not use any tools to separate the connector and pipe.
-
Do not forcefully bend, kink or twist the hose.
-
Keep the connector and pipe free from foreign matter.
-
If the connector and pipe are stuck together, pinch the connector and turn it carefully to disconnect it.

Put the connector in a plastic bag to prevent damage and contamination.
(c) Remove the fuel tube sub-assembly from the fuel hose clamp.
