Rear Knuckle: Service and Repair
Installation
AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE CARRIER (for 2WD): INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION
HINT:

Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.

The procedure listed below is for the LH side.
1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Temporarily install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
(b) Install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the 2 bolts and 2 nuts.
Torque: 290 Nm (2957 kgf-cm, 214ft-lbf)
NOTICE: When installing the nuts, keep the bolts from rotating.
2. INSTALL REAR STRUT ROD ASSEMBLY See: Trailing Arm/Service and Repair/Installation
3. INSTALL NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY See: Trailing Arm/Service and Repair/Installation
4. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY See: Wheel Hub/Service and Repair/Rear Axle Hub/Installation
5. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE See: Brakes and Traction Control/Antilock Brakes / Traction Control Systems/Wheel Speed

6. INSTALL REAR DISC See: Brakes and Traction Control/Disc Brake System/Service and Repair/Rear Brake/Installation
7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY See: Brakes and Traction Control/Parking Brake System/Service and
Repair/Reassembly
8. STABILIZE SUSPENSION See: Control Arm/Service and Repair/Rear Lower Arm/Installation
9. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY
(a) Support the rear axle carrier sub-assembly using a jack and wooden block as shown in the illustration.
