Variable Valve Timing Actuator: Testing and Inspection

INSPECTION

1. INSPECT CAMSHAFT TIMING OIL CONTROL VALVE ASSEMBLY

a. Check the resistance.

1. Measure the resistance between the terminals.

Standard resistance: 6.9 to 7.9 ohms at 20 °C (68 °F)

If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve assembly.

b. Check the operation.

1. Connect the positive (+) battery lead to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the movement of the valve.

If the result is not as specified, replace the oil control valve.

NOTE:  If the valve does not return properly because of foreign matter intrusion, a small amount of leakage in the advanced direction may
occur and a DTC may be output.
