Fuel Tank: Testing and Inspection
INSPECTION
FUEL TANK
Fuel tank
Check for cracks, deformity or damage. Replace if faulty.
Cap assembly
Check for cracks, deformity or damage. Replace if faulty.
Safety ventilator
Replace if four center vents show signs of melting or if ventilator is cracked, deformed or damaged.
Also replace rubber packing if damaged.
Breather valve
Check and service the breather valve as follows:
1. Check the vent hole for clogging with mud or rust formation. If necessary, remove mud or rust using a brush.
2. Remove the breather valve. With the valve side facing upward, supply air through the hole on the thread side to see if there is air flow.
3. When there is no air flow or when the valve is clogged excessively, replace the breather valve with a new one.
4. Apply fluoric, resin-based sealant to the thread of the new breather valve before installation.

16 - 20 N m {1.6 - 2.0 kgf-m, 12 - 14 ft-lbf}
FUEL TUBE AND HOSE
Replace if cracked, rusted, deformed, fatigued or damaged.
