F7:PROGRAMMING

Ignition ON

 

Press key F7 in the system main menu, select the desired test using the arrow keys and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 display.

 

 

When asked about the airbag system installed in the vehicle, make the appropriate selection with the utmost care. Select using the arrow keys. Confirm with ENTER key.

 

When an airbag system with a single squib circuit is installed (driver's airbag only), then select DRIVER ONLY.

 

If an airbag system with two squib circuits (driver's and co-driver's airbags) is installed in the vehicle, then select CO-DRIVER.

 

SELECT

ECU (SQUIB CODE)

If an incorrect selection is made at this point, the control unit may not be able to be programmed.

 

After selection of the airbag system, programming of the control unit begins, lasting approx. 35 seconds.

 

 

If the display on the right appears after programming, programming was successful.

 

 

After completing programming, switch the ignition off and on again once.

To be on the safe side, read out trouble codes again. Trouble code 51 must not be stored.

 

PROGRAMMING

If the display on the right appears after programming, a fault has occurred during programming.

The following measures should performed consecutively:

NOT PROGRAMMED!

Reprogram;

perform TECH 1 self-test;

check TECH 1 cable for damaged insulation and shielding;

reprogram with a new airbag control unit;

 

If the display on the right appears after programming, a fault has occurred during programming. If the YES key is pressed, TECH 1 displays all trouble codes stored in the control unit. The following lists the possible fault sources:

Trouble codes 51, 53 and 34:

 

The system selected was DRIVER ONLY although the vehicle is equipped with a system with two squib circuits (driver and co-driver airbag) - reprogram;

 

or

 

The selection (DRIVER ONLY, one squib circuit installed in vehicle) was correct. The control unit has however registered a resistance lower than 5 W between Ter. 5 and 6 - eliminate fault as specified in trouble code table (trouble code 34) and then reprogram;

 

 

Trouble codes 51, 53 and 33:

 

The system selected was CO-DRIVER although the vehicle is equipped with a system with only one

squib circuit (driver airbag only) - reprogram;

or

 

The selection (CO-DRIVER, two squib circuits installed in vehicle) was correct. The control unit has however registered a resistance higher than 8 W between Ter. 5 and 6 - eliminate fault as specified in trouble code table (trouble code 33) and then reprogram;

 

 

Trouble codes 51, 53 and other trouble codes except 33 and 34:

 

There is a fault in the system which prevents programming. Eliminate fault according to trouble code table or data list and then repeat programming.
