Rear Axle Front Wheel Drive|Specifications > < Rear axle, remove and install

 

Rear Axle, Replace  

Remove rear axle - see operation "Rear Axle, Remove and Install". Clamp rear axle with protective plate in vice.  

Object Number: 616193  Size: DEFAULT  Disassemble   

Unscrew wheel bearing unit with brake carrier plate/brake anchor plate. Remove brake lines from brackets. Remove stabilizer - see operation "Stabilizer, Remove and Install".  

Remove auxiliary stabiliser (C 20 XE und X 20 XEV) - see operation "Auxiliary stabiliser, Remove and Install (C 20 XE and X 20 XEV)".  

On vehicles with load-dependent brake proportioning valve: Unscrew bracket for adjusting Brake proportioning valve.  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Check Brake shoes and brake linings for wear - see operation "Brake Linings, Check for Wear" in group "H".  

Object Number: 2384687  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Object Number: 616194  Size: DEFAULT  Assemble   

Install stabilizer - see operation "Stabilizer, Remove and Install".  

Install (C 20 XE and X 20 XEV auxiliary stabiliser - see operation "Auxiliary stabiliser, Remove and Install (C 20 XE and X 20 XEV)".  

Install brake lines in brackets.  

Install wheel bearing unit with brake carrier plate and brake anchor plate - tightening torque 50 Nm + 30 ° + 15 ° (use new fixing nuts).  

On vehicles with load-dependent brake proportioning valve: Screw on bracket for adjusting brake proportioning valve.  

Install rear axle - see operation "Rear Axle, Remove and Install".
