Pressure Loss, Check > < Exhaust manifold, remove and install

 

Compression, Check  

Engine at operating temperature (oil temperature ≥ 80 ° C / 176 ° F).  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Detach all cable connections from sheathed glow plugs and insulate. Remove sheathed glow plugs - see operation "Sheathed Glow Plugs, Remove and Install".  

For version with immobiliser: Disconnect wiring harness plug for control unit solenoid valve. For version without immobiliser: Disconnect wiring harness plug from fuel feed solenoid valve.  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Use compression recorder (3) with a range of 10 to 40 bar overpressure in conjunction with Connector KM-533-B (1) and Adapter KM-533-2 (2). Install Connector KM-533-B in sheathed glow plug bore.

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Actuate starter for approx. 4 seconds - minimum engine speed 200 rpm. The pressure difference between the individual cylinders should not exceed 150 kPa (1.5 bar).  

Compression  

For 17 D and 17 DR:  

1850 kPa (18.5 bar) to 3450 kPa (34.5 bar).  

 

For X 17 DTL:  

2200 kPa (22.0 bar) to 3000 kPa (30.0 bar).  

 

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove Connector KM-533-B from sheathed glow plug bore.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install sheathed glow plugs - see operation "Sheathed Glow Plugs, Remove and Install".  

For version with immobiliser: Connect wiring harness plug for control unit solenoid valve. For version without immobiliser: Connect wiring harness plug to fuel feed solenoid valve.  

Fasten cable connections to sheathed glow plugs.
