Approx. 2 - 3 mm/0.08 - 0.12 in. play (arrows) must be present between clamping sleeve for Bowden cable (2) and lever for cold start acceleration (1) during cold idling (coolant temperature ≤ 20 ° C/68 ° F), and no play during warm idling. Coolant temperature ≤ 20 ° C/68 ° F. Speed increase is in operation. Idle speed: approx. 1200 rpm. Coolant temperature ≥ 20 ° C/68 ° F. Speed increase is not in operation. For 17 DR: idle speed 820 to 920 rpm. For X 17 DTL: idle speed 950 to 1000 rpm. Mark crankshaft pulley with 1 to 2 cm/0.4 to 0.8 in. wide piece of aluminium foil. Record engine speed using photo-electric rev counter.
 Adjust Coolant temperature ≤ 20 ° C/68 ° F: Turn adjusting screw (4) accordingly. Idle speed: approx. 1200 rpm.
