Intake Air Pre-heating, Check  

Checking conditions: engine cold (room temperature) and correct condition and seating of the vacuum hoses.  

  Inspect   

Remove air cleaner housing upper part, air intake hood and pre-heating hose (1).   Check vacuum unit (2) in air cleaner housing: start engine - valve to warm air duct (3) must remain open up to a temperature of approx. 35 ° C/95 ° F. With engine running, heat air cleaner housing in area of valve to approx. 40 ° C/104 ° F (industrial hot air dry er) - valve must now close the warm air duct.   Check expansion element regulator (4) in air intake cover: run engine and heat expansion element regulator to approx. 40 ° C/104 ° F (industrial hot air dryer) - valve to warm air duct must close.   Attach preheater hose, air intake cover and upper part of air cleaner housing.
