Test step "DESIRED IDLE" is only active in TECH 1 mode "F8". Test step "DESIRED IDLE" can be used to test the behaviour of the engine at increased engine speeds. Using the arrow keys, it is possible to cahnge the engine speed in the range from 650 rpm to 1800 rpm. At the same time, all other TECH 1 displays can be observed. TECH 1automatically assumes the snapshot mode to allow any unusual situations to be immediately stored by pressing the "F9" key. TECH 1 adjusts the idle speed stepper motor to set the engine speed to the desired value; a change in the "IDLE AIR CONTROL" display is therefore not a fault.
