Control Unit|Description and Operation > < Engine control unit, remove and install

 

Program Memory, Remove and Install (X 16 SZ, 16 LZ2 and C 18 NZ)  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove engine control unit - see operation "Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install".  

Object Number: 616193  Size: DEFAULT  Disassemble   

Remove program memory cover (1) from engine control unit. Release program memory (2) and lift out.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

Do not open program memory, do not touch plug contacts.  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Check plug contacts for damage.  

Object Number: 2392670  Size: DEFAULT

 

 

Object Number: 616194  Size: DEFAULT  Assemble   

Recesses in program memory and socket in engine control unit must align.  

Insert program memory - retaining clips must engage. Place program memory cover on engine control unit.  

Object Number: 616201  Size: DEFAULT  Important!   

When replacing engine control unit and reusing old program memory: transfer specifications (part no. and letter code) of removed engine control unit to sticker on Service engine control unit.  

For version with drive-off lock: activate new engine control unit with TECH1/TECH1A or TECH 2 for the "drive-off lock" function - see corresponding test instruction.  

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Install engine control unit - see operation "Engine Control Unit, Remove and Install".  

Object Number: 616196  Size: DEFAULT  Inspect   

Carry out function check as specified in trouble-shooting programme.
