Trouble - shooting:

Nominal Value:

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

 

·   Disconnect control unit plug K 57.

·   Ignition ON

·   Measure voltage:

·   at wiring harness plug K 57

     from:   wiring harness plug C 4, B 1, C 16

     to:        wiring harness plug D 1, A 12, B 10

 

greater than 11.5 V

 

·   Voltage supply at K 57 Ter. C 4, B 1, C 16 not OK.

·   Ground connection to control unit not OK. K 57 D 1, A 12, B 10

·   Plug connections X 5 Ter. 3 or X 5 Ter. 4 interrupted

·   Relay K 58 defective

·   Direct ignition system module L 2 defective

·   Control unit defective

 

·   Measure voltage:

     from:   battery +

     to:        ground

greater than 11.5 V

 

·   Battery discharged

·   Battery, short circuit in cell

·   Corroded contacts

 

·   Connect control unit plug K 57

·   Start engine

·   Measure voltage:

     from:   battery +

     to:        ground

 

Greater than 8 V and starter running

 

·   Check starter circuit

·   ATWS starter relay K 3 defective Astra - F only, LHD

 

·   Engine running at idle speed

·   Measure voltage:

     from:   battery +

     to:        ground

 

greater than 13 V

·   Alternator or regulator defective
