Introduction
This brochure describes the checking of the engine management systems
- SIMTEC 56.0 from the C 18 XE engine (Astra - F) - SIMTEC 56.1 from the X 20 XEV engine (Vectra / Cavalier, Calibra, Omega - B)
with TECH 1 and Program Module OPEL / VAUXHALL 87 - 94 - ECU and Program Module OPEL / VAUXHALL OMEGA - B 1994 ECU.
The Checking System
A checking concept has been developed which has pointed the way for the checking of electronic systems in vehicles.
The electronics of all vehicles can be checked using TECH 80, TECH 1, Universal Checking Adapters, Checking Leads and Electronic - Kit I.
Using TECH 1 and the corresponding program module, it is possible to read out data streams from electronic control units via diagnostic plug X13 (XD for Omega - B). A precondition for this is the use of electronic systems with
· microprocessor technology · self - diagnosis · serial data lead.
General lnstructions / Safety Measures
Data is read out by TECH 1 with the Ignition On and / or with the engine running. Trouble codes are deleted by pressing key "F4".
Safety Measures:
· Never connect or disconnect the battery to / from the control unit with the engine switched on. · Wait at least 60 s after switching off ignition before connecting / disconnecting plugs to / from electric / electronic components. Never disconnect the battery from the vehicle electrical supply with the engine running. · Disconnect battery from vehicle electrical supply before charging or quick - charging. · Never use the quick charger for starting. · Caution when touching voltage - bearing parts of the ignition system. · Use only high - resistance voltage testers for checking.
Important: After disconnecting the battery, volatile memories must be reprogrammed (clock, board computer, electronic window winders). Switch radio to normal function by entering code.
