Remove, Disconnect Ventilation pipe from transmission - under battery bracket Fluid cooler line from side cover or transmission. Fluid escapes - close off lines. Front left engine suspension bracket from transmission and front frame side member. |

Remove, Disconnect Front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold. |

Vehicles with AC: Outrigger for rear engine suspension bracket, from transmission (arrow) Press transmission to the rear, so that the side cover can be removed past the pipe lines of the air conditioning (2nd mechanic). Slightly raise transmission if necessary with KM-263-B or MKM-889-1. |

Remove, Disconnect Side cover from transmission (9 bolts for AF 20, 13 bolts for AF 13). Fluid escapes. 1 guide bushing present.
Clean Sealing surfaces at cover and transmission |

Tighten (Torque) Side cover to transmission - 25 Nm/18.5 lbf. ft., insert with sealing compound. Vehicles with AC: Outrigger for rear engine suspension bracket, to transmission - 60 Nm/44 lbf. ft. Front exhaust pipe - 25 Nm/18 lbf. ft., use new gasket. All vehicles: Front left engine suspension bracket to transmission - 65 Nm/48 lbf. ft. Front left engine suspension bracket to front frame side member - 75 Nm/ 55.5 lbf. ft. (2 new bolts). Lower fluid cooler line - 22 Nm/16 lbf. ft., note installation position, so that the connecting hose can be installed without kinking or twisting. |

Tighten (Torque) Hose clamp to connecting hose - 1.2 Nm/0.9 lbf. ft. or if removed: Fluid cooler line connections to transmission and side cover - 22 Nm/16 lbf. ft. (AF 20). Fluid escapes. Remove KM-263-B or MKM-889-1, attach vent hose. Check transmission fluid level - see operation "Transmission Fluid Level, Check". |
