Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install
 Remove
|
Remove engine cover.
Remove ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module,
Remove and Install (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)"
or "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18
XEL)".
For X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG:
Detach engine vent hoses (1) from cylinder head cover.
Detach cylinder head cover (2) from cylinder head.
For X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL:
Detach engine vent hoses (3) from cylinder head cover.
Disconnect wiring harness plug (4) from coolant temperature
sensor.
Detach coolant line (5) from thermostat housing, cylinder head
cover and intake manifold – place coolant line to one
side.
Detach cylinder head cover (6) from cylinder head.

 Clean
|
Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residues.
Install

For X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG: Apply
adhesive sealing compound (black) to sealing surfaces (1).

II
|
For X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18 XEL: Apply adhesive sealing compound
(black) to sealing surfaces (2).
|
Insert new seals (3) into cylinder head cover – sealing
lips of the seals must be inserted into groove of cylinder head
cover.
Attach cylinder head cover to cylinder head – tightening
torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.

Attach engine vent hoses to cylinder head.
For X 18 XE1: Connect wiring harness plug to coolant temperature
sensor and attach coolant line to thermostat housing, cylinder head
cover and intake manifold.
Install ignition module – see operation "Ignition Module,
Remove and Install (X 14 XE, Z 14 XE, X 16 XEL, Z 16 XE, Z 16 YNG)"
or "Ignition Module, Remove and Install (X 18 XE1, Z 18 XE, Z 18
XEL)".
Install engine cover.
For X 18 XE1: Charge cooling system – see operations
"Cooling System, Charge and Bleed" and "Cooling System, Check for
Leaks".
