Rear Panelling, Replace (Model L 08, L 48)

  Remove

1.   Remove right and left rear lights LUREF_1.gif
2.   Detach licence plates
3.   Remove right and left licence plate lamps (arrows)
•   Unlock 2x retainer
•   Disconnect 2x wiring harness plug
4.   Release rear panelling
•   Unscrew 4x right-hand (2) and left-hand (1) outside bolts
•   Unscrew 2x centre bolts (3)

5.   On vehicles with park pilot: release wiring harness plug (1)
Note:   There is no need to remove the two licence plate lamps.

Important:   Danger of damage. Carefully disengage rear panelling from guide rails. Push side of rear panelling upwards in the guide rail area and at the same time pull outwards in direction of arrow.
6.   Detach rear panelling (1)
Note:   This requires a second person
•   Unclip rear panelling from right guide rail (2)
•   Unclip rear panelling from rear guide rail (3)
•   Unclip rear panelling from left guide rail (4)

7.   When replacing the rear panelling, transfer the attaching parts

  Install

8.   When replacing the rear panelling of model L 08 with park pilot sensor, attach the park pilot sensor bracket LUREF_1.gif
9.   Position rear panelling
Note:   This requires a second person
•   Route licence plate lamp wiring harness
•   Clip rear panelling into left guide rail
•   Clip rear panelling into rear guide rail
•   Clip rear panelling into right guide rail
10.   On vehicles with park pilot: connect wiring harness plug
11.   Attach rear panelling
•   Tighten 4x bolt, outside right and left 2.5 Nm
•   Tighten 2x bolt, centre 2.5 Nm
12.   Install left and right licence plate lamps
•   Connect 2x wiring harness plugs
•   Lock 2x retainers
13.   Attach licence plates
14.   Install right and left rear lights LUREF_1.gif
