Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC43 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 7 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 7 (XC43)
    &
    Battery voltage
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:

  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:

  • Check the following component for proper operation:
    Fuse of the fused jumper wire

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Check: Short to Voltage of Signal Circuit

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 7 (XC43)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

    Ground

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    or
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

Note:

Check the following mechanical fault sources:

  • Air distribution box
  • Air distribution hoses/air distributing ducts
E002 Result: Short to Ground/Interruption
  • Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 20 (XC43)
    &
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 6

or

  • Defective component:
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
E003 Result: Short to Ground/Interruption
  • Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 19 (XC43)
    &
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4

or

  • Defective component:
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
E004 Result: Short to Ground/Interruption
  • Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control

E008 Result: Short to Voltage
  • If the nominal value is reached during one of the measurements, there is a short to voltage in the circuit behind the component that has been disconnected immediately before that measurement, or the corresponding component is defective.
E009 Result: Short to Voltage
  • Short circuit to voltage between:
    A1_A14 Control Unit - Climate Control
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 7 (XC43)
    &
    M1_A14 Stepper Motor - Air Distribution Flap
