Coolant Pipe, Remove and Install > < Cooling System, Charge and Bleed

Coolant flange, remove and install

  Remove

1.   Open bonnet
2.   Disconnect earth cable from battery
•   Slacken nut
3.   Disconnect positive cable from battery
•   Slacken nut
4.   Remove battery
•   Unscrew bolt (1)
– Remove retaining plate (2)
•   Remove battery

5.   Remove battery support (2)
•   Unscrew 3x bolts (1)
•   Detach wiring harness
– Undo cable ties

6.   Raise vehicle
7.   Drain coolant
•   Place collecting basin underneath.
•   Attach suitable hose to drain connection (2)
•   Open coolant drain screw (1)
– Drain coolant
•   Close coolant drain screw

8.   Disconnect thermostat wiring harness plug (1)
9.   Disconnect wiring harness plug for coolant temperature sensor (3)
10.   Disconnect wiring harness plug of EGR valve (4)
11.   Detach coolant hoses (2), (5) and (6)
•   Undo 4x clamps

12.   Detach bracket, wiring harness plug for oxygen sensor (1)
•   Unscrew 2x bolts (2)
13.   Remove coolant pipe (6)
•   Unscrew 2x bolts
14.   Remove coolant flange (3)
•   Unscrew 4x bolts (4) and (5)

15.   Clean sealing surface

  Install

16.   Replace gasket
17.   Fit coolant flange
•   Use new gasket
•   Screw in 4x bolt evenly until the housing is in contact with the cylinder head
Important:   It is essential to comply with the specified tightening sequence - risk of fracture
•   Tighten 4x bolt (1), (2), (3) and (4) 8 Nm

18.   Install coolant pipe
•   Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
19.   Attach 4x coolant hoses
•   Attach 4x clamps
20.   Attach bracket, wiring harness plug for oxygen sensor
•   Tighten 2x bolt 8 Nm
21.   Connect EGR valve wiring harness plug
22.   Connect coolant temperature sensor wiring harness plug
23.   Connect thermostat wiring harness plug
24.   Install battery holder
•   Tighten 3x bolt 15 Nm
•   Attach wiring harness to battery support
– Attach cable ties
25.   Install battery
•   1 bolt
26.   Connect positive and earth cable to battery
•   Tighten 2x nuts
27.   Cooling System, Charge and Bleed
28.   Program volatile memories
29.   Close bonnet
