Check crankshaft bearing clearance (with plastigage) > < Crankshaft, Remove and Install

Check crankshaft axial play

Note:   The check is conducted with the crankshaft bearing shells installed in the cylinder block and the flywheel removed. The crankshaft is only loosely fitted in the cylinder block.

  Measure

  Install

1.   Attach dial gauge MKM-571-B
•   Install dial gauge MKM-571-B in bracket
•   Attach bracket to timing side of cylinder block

  Measure

2.   Adjust dial gauge MKM-571-B
•   Apply the probe to the front side of the crankshaft
•   Attach dial gauge MKM-571-B , applying pre-tension
•   Set dial gauge MKM-571-B to "0"
3.   Measure crankshaft axial play
•   Display crankshaft axially
•   Read off test value
– Permissible axial play 0.055 - 0.265 mm
Note:   Repeat measurement several times!
