Check con-rod bearing clearance (with
plastigage)

Remove con-rod bearing cap

Mark installation position (1) of con-rod bearing cap

• |
Degrease con-rod bearing cap and wet the con-rod bearing clip
with engine oil
|
|
|
|
3. |
Lay on Plastigage
Important: Do not rotate
crankshaft
|
• |
Lay Plastigage (flexible plastic thread) over the entire width
of the con-rod bearing journal
Note: Plastigage is
available via the "Opel/Vauxhall Workshop Equipment" catalogue
|
|
4. |
Install con-rod bearing cap
• |
Tighten 2x bolt 35 Nm + 45° +
15°
|
|
5. |
Remove con-rod bearing cap
|
6. |
Measure con-rod bearing play
• |
Compare width of flattened plastic thread with measuring
scale
Note: When reading the
value, do not confuse millimetres and inches on the measuring
scale
|
• |
Permissible con-rod bearing play: 0.019 to 0.071 mm.
|
|
|
|
7. |
Install con-rod bearing cap
Important: Check markings on
parts
|
• |
Wet con-rod bearing journal and con-rod bearing clips with
engine oil
|
• |
Tighten 2x bolt 35 Nm + 45° +
15°
|
