Cylinder Head, Remove and Install > < Cylinder Head, Remove and Install

Detach and reattach attaching parts of cylinder head (cylinder head removed)

  • KM-6326-1

  Remove

1.   Remove fuel rail with injectors
•   Release and unplug wiring harness plug
•   Unscrew 2x stud bolt (1)
•   Unscrew 4x bolts (2)

2.   Remove intake manifold
•   Unscrew 7x bolts (arrows)
•   Unscrew 2x nuts (1)
Object Number: 2406417 Size: DEFAULT


3.   Detach exhaust manifold heat shield (4)
•   Detach engine transport shackle (1)
– Unscrew nut (2)
•   Unscrew 3x stud bolt (3)
Object Number: 8230677 Size: DEFAULT


4.   Remove exhaust manifold (1)
•   Unscrew 10x nut
– Remove gasket (2)
Object Number: 2416669 Size: DEFAULT


5.   Detach high-pressure fuel line
Important:   Collect emerging fuel.
•   Unscrew 2x union nuts
•   Seal off fuel system
– Use KM-6326-1
6.   Detach high-pressure fuel pump
•   Unscrew 3 bolts
Note:   Collect escaping engine oil.
7.   Clean sealing surfaces.

  Install

8.   Attach high-pressure fuel pump
•   Replace gasket
•   Tighten 3x bolt 8 Nm
9.   Attach high-pressure fuel line
•   Remove KM-6326-1
•   Tighten 2x union nuts 25 Nm
10.   Clean sealing surfaces.
•   exhaust manifold, cylinder head
11.   Install exhaust manifold
•   Replace gasket
•   Tighten 10x nut 12 Nm (2 passes)
– Use new nuts
12.   Attach heat shield
•   Tighten 3x stud bolt 23 Nm
•   Fit engine transport shackle
– Tighten nut
13.   Install intake manifold
Important:   The bolts must be tightened twice according to the tightening sequence. Tighten bolts from inside to outside
•   Tighten 7x bolt 9 Nm
•   Tighten 2x nut 9 Nm
14.   Install fuel rail with injectors
•   Tighten 4x bolt 9 Nm
•   Screw in 2x stud bolt
•   Connect and lock wiring harness plug
