C-004 - Fuel Pump Relay Circuit

Test

Work Order Description

Nominal Value

T001

Check: Component

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC53 )
  • Connect fused jumper wire to:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 20 (XC53)
    &
    Battery voltage

Is the fuel pump running?

Yes: No:
T002

Check: Short to Ground/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Do not remove fused jumper wire
  • Remove electrical component from socket:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 86
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T003

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Do not remove fused jumper wire
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 85
    &
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 86

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T004

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Remove fused jumper wire
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 30
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Voltage Measurement Current Value: V
Yes: No:
T005

Check: Component

  • Connect unfused jumper wire to:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 30
    &
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 87

Is the fuel pump running?

Yes: No:
T006

Check: Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    M1_M8 Pump - Fuel
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    M1_M8 Pump - Fuel
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Cause Of Fault

E001 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
E003 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    M1_M8 Pump - Fuel
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 3
    &
    Ground

or

  • Defective component:
    M1_M8 Pump - Fuel
E004 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 56 (XE2)
    &
    M1_M8 Pump - Fuel
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 4

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E005 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E006 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    K10_X125 Relay - Fuel Pump
    Socket Terminal 85
    &
    Ground

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E007 Result: Interruption
  • Short circuit to ground/interruption of circuit between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 20 (XC53)
    &
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 13 (XE3)

or

  • Defective component:
    X125 Underhood Electronic Module

Important:
