Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC27 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 2 (XC27)
    &
    Ground

greater than 11 V

Check: Short to Voltage/Interruption of Signal Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC11 )
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 1 (XC27)
    &
    Ground

less than 0.3 V

  • Ignition OFF
  • Measure resistance between:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl

  • Measure resistance between:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl

    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 45 (XC11)

less than 5 Ohm

  • Disconnect wiring harness connector from:

  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (component side) wiring colour BNWH (XC28)
    &
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (component side) wiring colour BN (XC28)

  • Disconnect vacuum hose from following component:
    Vacuum Actuator - Swirl Level Control Valve
  • Connect vacuum pump MKM-667 (component side) to:
    Vacuum Actuator - Swirl Level Control Valve
  • Use vacuum pump MKM-667 to create a vacuum in the range between -70 kPa ( -0.7 bar ) and -100 kPa ( -1 bar ).
  • Measure resistance between the following terminals:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (component side) wiring colour BNWH (XC28)
    &
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    Wiring harness connector (component side) wiring colour BN (XC28)

less than 5 Ohm

  • Connect vacuum pump MKM-667 (hose side) to:
    Vacuum Actuator - Swirl Level Control Valve
  • Connect wiring harness connector to:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC11 )
    &
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Wiring Harness Connector XC27 )
  • Engine idling
  • Select and enable diagnostic tester actuator test:
    Swirl Level Control Solenoid Valve Test
    Use soft key to activate the corresponding component

Indicates the vacuum pump a value between -70 kPa ( -0.7 bar ) and -100 kPa ( -1 bar )?

Yes: No:
T013

Check: Pneumatic Components

  • Ignition OFF
  • Disconnect vacuum hose from following component:
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    (Input connection)
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Input connection)
  • Connect vacuum pump MKM-667 (hose side) to:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Input connection)
  • Close the following vacuum connection tightly (hose side)
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    (Input connection)
  • Engine idling

Indicates the vacuum pump a value between -70 kPa ( -0.7 bar ) and -100 kPa ( -1 bar )?

Yes: No:
T014

Check: Interruption of Voltage Supply Circuit

  • Ignition OFF
  • Remove electrical component from socket:
    FE26 Fuse
  • Ignition ON
  • Measure voltage between the following terminals:
    FE26 Fuse
    Input contact

    Ground

    A84 Control Unit - Engine

Important:

Reset the concerned control unit with the diagnostic tester before replacing it. In order to do that, call up the "RESET" function from the PROGRAMMING menu of the current system on the diagnostic tester.

E002 Result: Defective Component
  • Defective component:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl

or

  • Pneumatic system leak between:
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
    (Output connection)
    &
    Vacuum Actuator - Swirl Level Control Valve

Note:

Read and (if applicable) apply Field Remedy 1782

E003 Result: Pneumatic Fault
  • Pneumatic system leakage/plugging between:
    Vacuum pump
    &
    Y142 Solenoid Valve - Boost Pressure Regulation
    &
    Y145 Solenoid Valve - Swirl
E004 Result: Interruption
  • Circuit interruption between:
    A84 Control Unit - Engine
    Wiring harness connector (wiring harness side) terminal 35 (XC11)
