This publication describes the performance of the exhaust emissions test.

It contains test and adjustment instructions and adjustment data for the exhaust emissions test to be carried out on vehicles with petrol and diesel engines as of model year 2005 (model year code in the VIN = "1" = 10th digit from the left). This publication supersedes the brochure "Exhaust emissions test for petrol and diesel engines KTA no. 2614/10" dated 07/2009. The following "Exhaust emissions test" brochures remain valid:

  • Petrol engines 07/1969 to 08/1997 and diesel engines 01/1977 to 08/1997, KTA-1945 of 09/1997;
  • Petrol and diesel engines from model year 1998 to model year 2000 1/2, KTA-2266 of 12/1999
  • Petrol and diesel engines from MY 2001, KTA-2522/4 of 03/2004

Country-specific special features, such as deviating legal requirements, tests or values, are therefore not included in this publication.

The adjustment data required for the performance of the exhaust emissions test is specified, in order to avoid confusion due to vehicle type, engine code, year of manufacture or model year code and performance.

Vehicles are designated in accordance with official guidelines.

As this publication is intended for world-wide distribution, it also includes engines, which are not available in all countries as original purchases.

As the instructions in this publication regarding checking and adjusting operations on the mixture and ignition systems are in the form of key points only, the instructions given in the Service Instructions or Checking Procedures (TIS 2000) must be observed if required.

Please read the testing and adjustment instructions before performing the exhaust emissions test.
