Engine A/Z16/18XER - Booming Noise between 2500 - 3500 rpm > < Z20LEH Engine - Flow noise out of the engine when engine is hot and decelerating with 1500 - 2200 rpm.

Subject: Engine A/Z/16/18XER - Rattling noise sometimes P0011 or P0014 stored, SVS on

Astra-H 2008...2009,Zafira-B 2008...2009,Insignia 2009,Vectra-C 2008,Signum 2008 Z16XER| Z18XER,Z16XER| Z18XER,A16XER| A18XER,Z18XER,Z18XER
Complaint: Rattling noise from cylinderhead/camshaft area, sometimes SVS illuminated and P0011 or P0014 stored in ECU.
Cause: The filter element of the solenoid of the variable camshaft position breaks and blocks the oil channel.
Production: Modified solenoids with improved filter elements will be introduced soon.

Remedy:

Note: 
For Insignia with engine A18XER please also refer to TSB 2487.

In case of customer complaint with:

- TC P0011 -->
 remove the solenoid of the variable camshaft position 
               intake side 
- TC P0014 -->
 remove the solenoid of the variable camshaft position 
               exhaust side

Check both filter elements with a blunt tool see picture I, arrows.

Object Number: 10686048 Size: DEFAULT 

At a solenoid with a broken filter element the filter element has to 
be removed only. The filter element is not required after the run-in 
period.


Note: 
After repair the adaption values (selection ECU programming F5) 
have to be reset.
