Work Order Description

Nominal Value

Check: Oil Condition

• Parking brake applied
• Brake pedal actuated
• Engine running at idle speed, operating temperature
• Shift selector lever once through all positions from P to 1 and back to P again
• Engine OFF
• Fill small quantity of transmission oil in a glass (through drainage)
• Check automatic transmission oil for high stress, excessive contamination

Note:

Compare the smell with new automatic transmission oil

The oil is red-brown-coloured to brown-coloured and non-transparent.

The oil film is gold-yellow coloured

No particles

No remarkable smell

Cause Of Fault

• Automatic transmission oil change necessary

Note:

If possible, drain the automatic transmission oil over night, so that the torque converter becomes half empty. Drain the oil cooler completely.

• Automatic transmission oil change necessary

• Automatic transmission overhauling can be necessary to replace damaged clutch linings and sealing.

Remove automatic transmission oil pan

Remove metal particles or other residues from the transmission oil pan

Replace automatic transmission oil filter

Clean/rinse automatic transmission oil cooler and oil cooler pipes

Check/clean solenoid valves
