Field Remedy: 2632

Remedy:

In case of a customer complaint remove the end shield, check the
guidance of the gearshift rod and rework the gearshift rod if 
necessary.

Working Procedure:

 1. Remove end shield

    - see working procedure "End Shield Gasket, Replace",
      group "K", according Service Instruction of the affected
      carline.

 2. Check the guidance of gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear for existing
    oil drilling (Picture I, arrows)

    - If there is one of the two oil bores missing on the gear rod 
      guidance, continue with working step 3
    - If there are two oil bores on the gear rod guidance, 
      continue with working step 8

 3. Mark the grind position on the gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear
    (Picture II, arrow)

 4. Mark the grind areas on the gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear 
    (Picture III)

    - A: 13,5 mm
    - B: 34,0 mm
    - D: 14,0 mm

 5. Cover the end shield completely (Picture IV, 1) and grind the
    gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear with angle grinder (Picture IV, 2)

    Note: Do not cover the gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear.

 6. Deburr the grinding edges of gearshift rod 3rd/4th gear with
    suitable sand paper

 7. Remove cover from end shield

 8. Install end shield

    - see working procedure "End Shield Gasket, Replace",
      group "K", according Service Instruction of the affected
      carline.
