Replace column integration module (CIM)

Note:   When replacing the control unit, before removing the control unit carry out a Reset with TECH 2.

  Remove

1.   Disconnect battery.
2.   Remove steering wheel
3.   Remove lower steering column panelling
•   Unscrew 5x bolt (arrows)
•   Remove ignition lock panel (1)
•   Draw rubber sleeve out of the steering column panelling

4.   Remove column integration module (CIM)
•   Unscrew 3x bolt (1)
•   Unclip wiring harness holder (arrow)
•   Release wiring harness plug (2) and disconnect

5.   Remove signal switch/wiper switch actuation lever
•   Unclip retaining lug
Note:   Unlock engaging lug with a suitable tool (1), a hex screwdriver 1.5 mm WAF
•   Remove actuating lever

6.   If removal and installation is necessary
Note:   The column integration module (CIM module) replaces the existing contact unit and contains additional functions.
Note:   The contact unit may not be twisted when it has been removed.
Note:   When removing and installing, ensure that the markings (arrows) are opposite each other as shown in the illustration.

  Install

7.   Install column integration module (CIM)
•   Connect and lock wiring harness plug
•   Clip in wiring harness holder
•   Tighten 3x bolt
8.   Install actuating lever
•   Engage actuating lever
•   Install rubber sleeve in steering column panelling
9.   Attach lower steering column panelling
•   Insert ignition lock rosette
•   Tighten 5x screw
•   Install rubber sleeve in steering column panelling
10.   Install steering wheel
11.   Connect battery.
Note:   When replacing the control unit, program control unit with TECH 2. LUREF_1.gif
12.   Program volatile memories
