Test  

Instructions  

Nominal value  

T01  

Measure resistance  

 

 

•  Disconnect wiring harness plugs from both airbags U21 and U22  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug from airbag control unit K31  

•  Measure resistance between co-driver's airbag wiring harness plug U22/red yellow lead or terminal X and airbag control unit wiring harness plug K31/terminal 5  
 
 
 

 
 

 
Lower than 2 Ω  

 

Yes:   T02  

No:   E01

Measure resistance  

 

 

•  Disconnect wiring harness plugs from both airbags U21 and U22  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug from airbag control unit K31  

•  Measure resistance between co-driver's airbag unit wiring harness plug U22/yellow blue lead or terminal Y and airbag control unit wiring harness plug K31/terminal 6  
 
 
 

 
 

 
Lower than 2 Ω  

 

Yes:   T03  

No:   E03

Measure voltage  

 

 

•  Disconnect wiring harness plugs from both airbags U21 and U22  

 

 

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug from airbag control unit K31  

 

 

•  Ignition ON  

 

 

•  Measure voltage at airbag control unit wiring harness plugs K31/terminal 5 and K31/terminal 6 to ground  
 
 
 

Each  
lower than 0.1 V  

 

Yes:   T04  

No:   E04

Measure resistance  

 

 

•  Disconnect wiring harness plugs from both airbags U21 and U22  

•  Disconnect wiring harness plug from airbag control unit K31  

•  Ignition ON  

•  Measure resistance at airbag control unit wiring harness plugs K31/terminal 5 and K31/terminal 6 to ground  
 
 
 

 
 

 

Each  
greater than 100 k Ω  

 

Yes:   E02  

No:   E04

•  Lead interruption between airbag control unit K31/terminal 5 and wiring harness plug and co-driver's airbag unit U22/yellow red lead or U22/terminal X  
 
 
 

E02  

•  Airbag control unit K31 defective  

 

  or  

 

•  Co-driver's airbag unit U22 defective  
 
 
 

E03  

•  Lead interruption between co-driver's airbag unit wiring harness plug U22/yellow blue lead or U22/terminal Y and instrument panel & contact unit wiring harness plug X91/terminal 6  
 
 
 

E04  

•  Short circuit to terminal 15, terminal 30 or terminal 31; in this case, the wiring harness must be replaced
