Upper Steering Shaft Ball Bearing, Replace (Vehicles with Airbag/without EPS)
Remove, Disconnect Remove steering column assembly - see operation "Steering Column Assembly, Remove and Install (Vehicles with Airbag/without EPS)". Unbolt signal switch casing from steering shaft (1). |

Remove spacer ring (1) from steering shaft (2). |

Remove, Disconnect Clamp steering shaft in vice. Centre-punch both bolts of steering and ignition lock casing. Using Ø 5 mm/0.2 in. drill, spot-drill shear bolts approx. 15 mm/0.6 in. deep. Drive screwdriver into bore and unscrew shear bolt. |

Centre-punch 4 bolts of upper steering shaft housing. Using Ø 5 mm/0.2 in. drill, spot-drill shear bolts approx. 15 mm/0.6 in. deep. Drive screwdriver into bore and unscrew shear bolt. |

Remove, Disconnect Remove upper housing with steering shaft ball bearing from steering column (see illus. I). Drive upper steering shaft ball bearing from housing with KM-108 (see illus. II).
Install, Connect Drive upper steering shaft ball bearing into housing with KM-108 (see illus. II). Place upper housing with steering shaft ball bearing on steering column and bolt on.
Tighten (Torque) Use new shear bolts. Tighten shear bolts until bolt head shears off. |

Install, Connect Push spacer ring (1) onto steering shaft (2). |

Bolt signal switch housing to steering shaft (1). Remove steering column assembly - see operation "Steering Column Assembly, Remove and Install (Vehicles with Airbag/without EPS)". |
