Brake Fluid Reservoir, Replace - RHD Vehicles  

Object Number: 616191  Size: DEFAULT  Remove, Disconnect   

Mark the two wiper arms, unbolt and remove from wiper bearings. Unscrew fastening bolts of cowl (see illus. I, arrows), lift cowl at centre and remove carefully.  

Remove upper bulkhead seal. Unbolt hex nuts from both wiper bearings (see illus. II, 1). Lift water deflector at front edge and remove.  

Unscrew lid from brake fluid reservoir. Disconnect wiring harness plug for brake fluid warning indicator from sensor on side of reservoir.  

Siphon off as much brake fluid as possible from brake fluid reservoir using commercially available siphon bottle. Unclip brake fluid reservoir from side brackets and remove from seals in brake master cylinder (see illus. III). Remove brake fluid reservoir seals from brake master cylinder.

The sensor for the brake fluid warning indicator remains in the old brake fluid reservoir.

Object Number: 616192  Size: DEFAULT  Install, Connect   

Coat new seals with brake cylinder paste, insert in brake master cylinder and install new brake fluid reservoir. Connect wiring harness plug for brake fluid warning indicator. Insert water deflector, install hex nuts. Insert bulkhead seal. Insert cowl and fasten (see illus. I, arrows).  

Install both wiper arms, align and fasten - tightening torque 14 Nm / 10 lbf. ft. Note left and right wiper arms! Maintain installation dimensions for windscreen wiper arms in parked position (see illus. II).

Passenger's side  

Dimension 1 = 50 ± 5 mm  

Dimension 2 = 55 ± 5 mm  

 

The gap dimensions are given from the window trim (visible glass edge) to the blade centre at the blade attachment point.

Bleed brake system and check for leaks - see operation "Brake System, Bleed and Check for Leaks". Check wiper function.
