Disassemble Using suitable drill, drill off rivets from brake shoe and drive out with suitable drift. Brake linings are supplied in two thicknesses! 5 mm thick for workshops without lining grinding machines. These linings can be installed immediately after riveting. Not suitable for turned out drum hubs. 5.6 mm thick for workshops with grinding machines. These linings must be ground to the dimension of the processed drum hub/brake drum after riveting. Always replace all brake linings on an axle, even if only one lining is oil contaminated, torn or worn.
Clean Clean brake shoes at contact surfaces thoroughly, avoid applying adhesives or similar agents between brake shoes and lining.
Assemble Rivet brake linings onto brake shoes. When riveting on brake linings, start at the centre. |

Clean Before installing brake shoes, clean brake anchor plate with a soft metal brush and thinly coat brake shoe contact area (arrows) with anti-squeal agent.
Install, Connect |

If necessary, thinly coat adjustment pinion on threaded part with silicone grease.
Install, Connect Install adjustment unit between brake shoes. Ensure correct installation position (see illus. I, arrow). Then screw unit apart until the drum hub/brake drum still passes freely over the pre-installed brake shoes. When installing new brake shoes, ensure that the belleville spring for the adjustment lever is installed. Install adjustment lever with spring on coiled pin (see illus. II). Attach return spring for adjustment lever in brake shoe. Insert bracket for return spring in spring pin and press in bore of brake shoe. Attach upper brake shoe return spring in bracket using commercially available brake spring pliers. Install drum hub/brake drum.
