Complaint:

No /Poor Function

Engine - Temperature is too high

Cause:

The radiator is blocked from the inside.

Production Solution:

As of MY 97 the coolant circuit is O.K.

Special part:

No

Remedy:

Replace the radiator and flush the coolant circuit.

1.    Drain the coolant.

2.    Flush the cooling system with warm water (>50°C).

3.    Flush the new radiator with warm water (>50°C).

4.    Replace radiator, heater core, cylinder head and any other coolant carrying components.

5.    Check the coolant sensors in the engine block, clean or replace the sensors.

6.    Refill the coolant system with new coolant:

50% coolant, 50% water as described in specification.

7.    Check the system for leakage and run engine until warm and the fans are running.

8.    After cool down check the water level in the coolant reservoir and check the anti freeze level (-30°C).

If all coolant carrying parts are not replaced, the complaint will be repeated after the same runtime.

The cause is aluminium corrosion. It is important to ensure the mix of coolant and water is according to the Opel specification (50% /50%). The coolant contains corrosion protection.
