Gasket between Exhaust Manifold and Cylinder Head, Replace (15 D, 17 D, X 17 D)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove air intake hose. Unbolt front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and from bracket on cylinder block (see illus. I). Unscrew exhaust manifold from cylinder head (see illus. II).     Clean    Clean sealing surfaces.     Install, Connect    Install new gasket and attach exhaust manifold. To prevent distortion, first loosely fasten nuts and bolts and then tighten from inside outwards. Bolt front exhaust pipe with new seal ring to exhaust manifold and fasten to bracket on cylinder block (see illus. I). Install air intake hose.     Tighten (Torque)    Exhaust manifold to cylinder head   30 Nm / 22 lbf. ft   Exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold   70 Nm / 52 lbf. ft
