Con-rod, Check (Bearing Clearance) - Con-rod Removed  

  Install, Connect   

Install con-rod bearing cap (3) with con-rod bearing shells (2) on con-rod (1) - 25 Nm / 18 lbf. ft. + 30 ° 1)  .   Do not confuse con-rod bearing cap and con-rod during installation and ensure mating surfaces are absolutely clean.     Measure    The average con-rod bearing diameter is determined using a internal micrometer at points I, II and III (see illus. II) and then calculated. Formula and example for calculating the average con-rod bearing diameter:   I   +   II   +   III   3     I   42.738 mm     + II   42.732 mm     + III   42.741 mm       128.211 mm   : 3 = 42.737 mm     The average con-rod bearing journal diameter is 42.737 mm.

1)  In case of angle specifications, tighten bolts with corresponding torques. Then turn further by the specified angle Use new bolts.  

  Measure   

The centre con-rod bearing journal diameter is measured with an internal micrometer at positions I, and II. Formula and example for calculation of centre con-rod bearing journal diameter:   I   +   II   2       I   42.729 mm     +   II   42.725 mm         85.454 mm   : 2 = 42.727 mm     The average con-rod bearing journal diameter is 42.727 mm.   Determine the con-rod bearing clearance using the average con-rod bearing bore diameter and the average con-rod bearing journal diameter.     Average con-rod bearing bore diameter   42.737 mm   -   Average con-rod bearing journal diameter   - 42.727 mm     Con-rod bearing clearance   0.010 mm     The calculated con-rod bearing clearance is equal to 0.010 mm in this example.   Permissible con-rod bearing clearance: 0.019 mm - 0.071 mm
