Cylinder Head Cover, Remove and Install  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove upper part of intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (C 16 XE)" or "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL)".   Detach spark plug connector with MKM-836 from spark plugs and unclip from bracket - note routing of spark plug wire.   Remove engine vent hoses from cylinder head cover.   Release cylinder head cover fastening bolts in a spiral pattern from outside inwards and remove - remove cylinder head cover.     Clean    Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residue.     Install, Connect    Insert new gaskets (1) and new seal rings (2) into cylinder head cover - before inserting, lightly coat seal rings with silicone grease (white).

  Install, Connect   

Apply adhesive sealing compound (black) to sealing surfaces (1).   Attach cylinder head cover to cylinder head - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. - tighten fastening bolts evenly in a spiral pattern from inside outwards.   Attach engine vent hoses to cylinder head cover.   Connect spark plug connectors to spark plugs and clip ignition cables into brackets - note ignition cable routing.   Install upper part of intake manifold - see operation "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (C 16 XE)" or "Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL)".
