Intake Manifold - Upper Part, Remove and Install (X 14 XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL)  

  Remove, Disconnect   

Remove ignition cable cover.   Remove engine vent hose (1), brake servo vacuum line (2) and intake manifold pressure sensor vacuum hose (3) from upper part of intake manifold.   Pull tank vent valve (4) upwards out of bracket and detach vacuum hose from upper part intake manifold - set aside tank vent valve.   Detach vacuum hose (5) from fuel pressure regulator.   Release upper fastening clamp (6) for connecting piece.   Remove fastening bolts (7) and (8) as well as fastening nuts (9) - remove upper part of intake manifold.

  Clean   

Clean sealing surfaces and remove gasket residue.  

  Install, Connect   

Attach upper part of intake manifold to lower part of intake manifold with new gasket and to cylinder head cover - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.  

Tighten fastening clamp for connecting piece - ensure correct seating.  

Attach vacuum hose to fuel pressure regulator.  

Attach tank vent valve vacuum hose to upper part of intake manifold and insert tank vent valve into bracket.  

Attach engine vent hose and intake pipe pressure sensor vacuum hose to upper part of intake manifold.  

Attach brake servo vacuum line to upper part of intake manifold - tightening torque 18 Nm / 13 lbf. ft.  

Attach ignition cable cover to upper part of intake manifold - tightening torque 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft.
