Cylinder Head, Overhaul  

Valve Seat, Mill  

Place cylinder head on two blocks of wood.     Remove, Disconnect    Insert Guide Drift KM-340-27 up to stop in valve guide and tension.

Place Valve Seat Cutter KM-340-11 with 45 ° face (note arrow on cutter) on valve seat.   Apply handle with intermediate piece and begin milling, removing as little material from valve seat as possible. Apply low pressure to cutter exactly vertically from above, so that seat lies concentrically to valve guide.   Use same cutter for exhaust and intake valve seat rings.

  Important!   

Intake valve   Note valve seat width. The valve seat width must be equal to 1.2 ± 0.2 mm (see illus. I). Valve stem diameter and total valve length - see "Technical Data".   Exhaust valve   Note valve seat width. The valve seat width must be equal to 1.6 ± 0.2 mm (see illus. I). Valve stem diameter and total valve length - see "Technical Data".     Adjust    If necessary perform upper correction with 30 ° cutter and lower correction with 60 ° cutter - see drawing Intake Valve Seat/Exhaust Valve Seat, illus. I.     Inspect    Check contact pattern. Coat valve seat with touch-up paste. Insert valve into valve guide and rotate carefully 1/4 turn with little pressure (see illus. II).

  Inspect   

Lift up valve and check contact pattern. If valve does not contact fully, lightly re-cut seat and check contact pattern.   Grind in valve - see operation "Valve, Grind in".     Clean    Thoroughly clean valves and valve seats.     Inspect    Install valves and valve springs - see operation "Cylinder Head, Disassemble and Assemble". Perform leak test. For this purpose, lay cylinder head with combustion chambers upwards and fill combustion chamber with petroleum. The petroleum must not seep through valve/valve seat ring.
