Engine Damping Block, Front Right, Remove and Install (Vehicles without Power Steering and Air Conditioning)
 Remove, Disconnect Disconnect ground cable from battery. For X 14 XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL: remove air duct pipe (2) and air cleaner housing (1). |

For C 16 XE: disconnect wiring harness plug from hot film mass air flow meter. Remove air duct pipe (3) and air cleaner housing (1) together with mass air flow meter (2). |

Remove, Disconnect Remove ignition cable cover from upper part of intake manifold. Attach engine with Engine Lifter Shackles KM-2358 to Engine Bridge KM-263-B (or Engine Bridge MKM-883-1). Release pressure in cooling system by opening closure cap on coolant compensation tank. Detach coolant hose from coolant thermostat housing (see illus.). Collect escaping coolant. |

Remove front exhaust pipe from exhaust manifold and set aside. Detach engine bracket from engine damping block (arrows). Carefully lower engine on right side. |

Remove, Disconnect Remove engine damping block from front frame side member (1). In order to remove locking compound residues, re-cut threaded bores in front frame side member.
 Install, Connect Attach engine damping block to front frame side member - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. 1)
. Front right engine damping block to front frame side member. Raise engine until engine damping block threaded stud protrudes from bore in engine bracket. Attach bolt and nut to engine damping block (2) - 60 Nm / 44 lbf. ft. Attach front exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold - 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. |

1) Bolts must be re-cut before re-use and inserted after being coated with bolt locking compound (red).
Install, Connect Attach coolant hose to coolant thermostat housing (see illus.).
Remove, Disconnect Remove Engine Bridge KM-263-B and Engine Lifter Shackles KM-2358 (or Engine Bridge MKM-883-1). |

Install, Connect Attach ignition cable cover to upper part of intake manifold - 8 Nm / 6 lbf. ft. Install air duct pipe and air cleaner housing with mass air flow meter - connect wiring harness plug (illus. shows C 16 XE). Connect ground cable to battery. Top up and bleed cooling system - see corresponding operation. Ensure that anti-freeze is adequate for a temperature of -30 ° C / -22 ° F. |
