Remove safety valve closure plug (arrow, see illus. I) from oil pump housing and remove spring and piston behind it. For this purpose, for vehicles with AC and power steering, remove oil pump - see operation "Oil Pump, Remove and Install".
 Important! If there are symptoms like "telltale illuminates" or "flashes", which can be traced back to lack of oil pressure, check that the safety valve plunger is not jammed and that there is not dirt adhering to it.
 Install, Connect Install piston (note installation position), spring, new seal ring and closure bolt (see illus. II) - 50 Nm / 37 lbf. ft. |

Remove, Disconnect
