Toothed Belt Tension, Adjust Notice: Adjustment is carried out with the engine cold - at room temperature. The toothed belt tension must have been checked as a precondition for this operation. This means that crankshaft is set to "1st cylinder TDC" and camshaft pulleys are locked with KM-852 - see operation "Toothed Belt Tension, Check".
 Adjust Loosen fastening bolt of the toothed belt tension roller (I). Tension toothed belt tension roller (I) at adjustment eccentric in direction of arrow (counter-clockwise) until pointer of toothed belt tension roller is just before right stop (I). Moderately tighten fastening bolt of toothed belt tension roller.
 Remove, Disconnect Remove Locking Tool KM-852.
 Inspect At the fastening bolt of the toothed belt drive gear turn crankshaft two rotations (720 ° ) in engine rotation direction to mark "1st cylinder TDC" to (III). The marks on the camshaft pulleys must face one another and align with the upper edge of the cylinder head (II). Turn crankshaft slowly and uniformly.
 Install, Connect Lock camshaft pulleys with KM-852. |

Adjust New Toothed Belt, Adjust: Slightly release fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller and turn adjustment eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until:

Option I: |
Pointer (1) for toothed belt tension roller aligns with the notched mark (2). |

Option II: |
Pointer (1) for toothed belt tension roller aligns with the "NEW" notched mark (2). |
Install, Connect Tighten fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. |

Remove, Disconnect Remove Locking Tool KM-852.
Inspect Turn crankshaft another two rotations (720 ° ) in direction of engine rotation to mark "1st cylinder TDC" and check adjustment of toothed belt tension roller. If the pointer for the toothed belt tension roller does not align with the corresponding notch mark, repeat the adjustment procedure.
Adjust Run-in Toothed Belt, Adjust: Partly release fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller and turn adjuster eccentric in direction of arrow (clockwise) until:

Option I: |
Pointer (1) of toothed belt tension roller is approx. 4 mm to the left of the notched mark (2). |

Option II: |
Pointer (1) for toothed belt tension roller aligns with the mark "USED" (2). |
Install, Connect Tighten fastening bolt for toothed belt tension roller - tightening torque 20 Nm / 15 lbf. ft. |

Remove, Disconnect Remove Locking Tool KM-852.
Inspect Turn crankshaft another two rotations (720 ° ) in direction of engine rotation to mark "1st cylinder TDC" and check adjustment of toothed belt tension roller.
