Camshaft Sprockets, Remove and Install
Caution
|
|
Before removing toothed belt - set crankshaft to approx. 60
° (dimension I) before TDC mark.
 Remove
Remove air cleaner housing - see illustration "Air Ducts (X 14
XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL)" or "Air Ducts (C 16 XE)".
Remove upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation "Toothed
Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
For version without AC: remove ribbed V-belt - see operation
"Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install (Vehicles without Power Steering
and AC)" or "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install (Vehicles with Power
Steering)".
For version with AC: detach ribbed V-belt from alternator pulley
and set aside (do not remove) - see operation "Ribbed V-belt,
Remove and Install (Vehicles with Power Steering and AC)".
Remove toothed belt cover - lower part - see operation "Toothed
Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".

Remove
Remove toothed belt - see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and
Install".

Release fixing bolts (3) from KM-6347 (1). Insert KM-6347 into
camshaft pulley in conjunction with KM-956-1 (2) - ensure they are
seated correctly.
Note: Grooves of
KM-6347 (arrows) must engage in the camshaft pulley.
Turn KM-6347 in the direction of the arrow and tighten the
fixing bolts. Release fastening bolt (4) from camshaft.
Release fixing bolts from KM-6347 and remove KM-6347. Remove
fastening bolt from camshaft pulley and take out camshaft
pulley.
Note: Camshaft
sprocket with cover for cylinder recognition is mounted on the
exhaust camshaft.

Install
Position camshaft pulleys with new bolts and timing chain
markings at the front of the camshafts - ensure that the camshaft
guide pins engage in the bores of the camshaft pulleys.
Attach camshaft pulley fastening bolt - do not tighten. Insert
KM-6347 into camshaft pulley in conjunction with KM-956-1 - ensure
they are seated correctly.
Note: Grooves of
KM-6347 must engage in the camshaft pulley.
Turn KM-6347 and tighten fixing bolts.
Tighten fastening bolt of camshaft pulley - tightening torque 50
Nm + 60° + 15°.
Release fixing bolts from KM-6347 and remove KM-6347.
Install toothed belt - see operation "Toothed Belt, Remove and
Install".
Install toothed belt cover - lower part - see operation "Toothed
Belt Cover - Lower Part, Remove and Install".
Install ribbed V-belt - see operation "Ribbed V-belt, Remove and
Install (Vehicles without Power Steering and AC)" or "Ribbed
V-belt, Remove and Install (Vehicles with Power Steering)" or
"Ribbed V-belt, Remove and Install (Vehicles with Power Steering
and AC)".
Install upper part of toothed belt cover - see operation
"Toothed Belt Cover - Upper Part, Remove and Install".
Install air cleaner housing - see illustration "Air Ducts (X 14
XE, C 14 SEL, X 16 XE, C 16 SEL)" or "Air Ducts (C 16 XE)".
