IDLE AIR CONTROL

Ignition ON, engine OFF

 

Press F5 key in the system main menu, using the arrow keys select the desired test and confirm with YES. Follow the instructions in the TECH 1 Display.

 

Note:

The idle speed adjuster is actuated by TECH 1, causing the valve cone to be moved in and out. The test is completed after a maximum of 30 s.

 

 

0 to 160 steps

If removed, but still electrically connected, the in and outward movement of the valve cone must visible

Cause of Fault:

(If nominal value is not attained)

·   Ignition OFF

·   Disconnect plug from idle speed adjuster M 66

·   Ignition ON

·   TECH 1 in mode "F5" IDLE AIR CONTROL

·   Measure voltage: (20V/AC)

 

·   Lead interruption

from:      stepper motor A, C, B, D

to:          control unit Ter. C 9, C 5, C 8, C 6

 

from:      wiring harness plug Ter. A

to:          wiring harness plug Ter. C

and

from:      wiring harness plug Ter. B

to:          wiring harness plug Ter. D

 

A/C: 5.6 to 6.9 ~volts

 

 

B/D: 5.6 to 6.9  ~volts

 

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Remove motor M 66

·   Connect plug to idle speed adjuster M 66

·   Ignition ON

 

 

TECH 1 in mode "F5" IDLE AIR CONTROL Compress pintle slightly with thumbs

 

Pintle moves in and out noticeably

 

·   Servo motor defective

 

·   Ignition OFF

·   Measure resistance of coils A-B and C-D Disconnect plug from stepper motor

 

 

 

55 W - 65 W (cold)

45 W - 60 W (warm)

 

·   Servo motor defective
